Developed to make the most of all available surfaces, the
Vela System from Sun Ballast represents a
simple and quick solution that allows for maximum use of all areas for photovoltaic systems, even when space is limited. The Vela System consists, in fact, of different weights for photovoltaics, each manufactured at a different height above the ground: this way, it is possible to place rows of photovoltaic modules very close to each other, forming true “sails” of modules,
that optimize surfaces and manage both shade and obstacles present on the roof, as can be seen in the photo. Depending on the characteristics of the roof, the concrete weights can also be positioned in single rows, freely modulating the distance between them and selecting the most suitable height. Each weight for photovoltaics already includes the
prefabricated fixing points in the concrete, and the supports supplied with the structures make assembly even faster and safer. The Vela System with a 10° tilt allows for up to three consecutive rows of modules, while with the 5° version – used in this installation – the rows can be increased up to six. The photovoltaic system visible in the photo with
12 kWp was installed by our client
Mechkat Bouldin Architects on the flat roof with membrane of a building in Le Grand-Saconnex, Switzerland, and thanks to the photovoltaic weights from Sun Ballast, the installation was carried out
minimizing installation times,
without holes in the roof and with easy adaptation to the specific characteristics of the covering.
